About
The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and organizations working nationally and internationally to reconnect children with nature. The network provides a critical link between researchers and individuals, educators and organizations dedicated to children’s health and well-being. C&NN also promotes fundamental institutional change and provides resources for sharing information, strategic initiatives and success stories.
These selected articles and recent writings by Richard Louv and others expand on events and initiatives in the children and nature movement, its leadership, strategies and vision for the future.
C&NN Co-founder and Chairman Emeritus, Richard Louv is the author of eight books about the connections between family, nature and community. His newest book is The Nature Principle: Human Restoration and the End of Nature-Deficit Disorder, which offers a new vision of the future, in which our lives are as immersed in nature as they are in technology. His book Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder, translated into 10 languages and published in 15 countries, helped launch an international movement to connect children to nature. In 2008, he received the Audubon Medal; former recipients include Rachel Carson, E.O. Wilson and President Jimmy Carter.
