ABOUT THE NEW NATURE MOVEMENT: Commentary by Richard Louv & Guest Writers

The New Nature Movement offers commentaries by Richard Louv and guest writers. These essays expand on events and initiatives of the worldwide movement to connect people to the natural world. The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and organizations working nationally and internationally working to build the movement. The network provides a critical link between researchers and individuals, educators and organizations dedicated to health and well-being. C&NN also promotes fundamental institutional and cultural change and provides resources for sharing information, strategic initiatives and success stories.

Richard Louv, editor-in-chief of The New Nature Movement, is also the co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Children & Nature Network and the author of eight books, including Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder and The Nature Principle: Reconnecting with Life in a Virtual Age. His ninth book, Vitamin N, will be released in 2016. He has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Times of London,  and other newspapers and magazines. Louv has appeared frequently on national radio and television programs, and often addresses national and international gatherings. In 2008, he received the Audubon Medal; past recipients include Rachel Carson, E.O. Wilson and Jimmy Carter. Commentaries here and elsewhere on the C&NN website are offered to inform readers and to stimulate new thinking and debate. C&NN does not officially endorse every statement in every commentary.
