Maryland Partnership for Children in Nature
580 Taylor Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401
Statewide, Maryland
This campaign is Statewide.
Governor O'Malley has issued an Executive Order forming a Maryland Partnership for Children in Nature. The goals of this partnership include developing a plan to provide youth with structured and unstructured opportunites for outdoor play, recreation, and learning. In addition to creating nature play zones, connecting schools to public lands, and increasing schoolyard habitats, the Exectutive Order also calls for a state-wide Environmental Literacy Plan. This plan will examine existing outdoor learning opportunties for students and identify ways to increase these opportunities.

C&NN has designated April "Children & Nature Awareness Month." As part of this effort, we invited network members (like you) to list their April programs and share their strategies for building public awareness. Find out what's happening in your community on the C&NN Movement Map.
As part of our ongoing efforts to build the movement, the Children & Nature Network has published two new resources for leaders, organizers, and participants at the local, national, and international levels:
An annotated bibliography of 20 premier studies focusing on the children and nature connection.

The National Wildlife Federation has created a website to inspire parents and children alike. The premise is simple: every child should spend at least an hour a day playing outside.
