It may not be a medically recognised condition, but ''nature deficit disorder'' is a concept gaining traction with childhood and behavioural experts around the world. Afflicting those in hard, urban environments deprived of nature's randomness and balance, it is a challenge facing cities such as Melbourne, whose children will grow up with rising urban density and pressure for open space.
