Bill Would Guarantee Free Access to Public Lands for Fourth-graders

A bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Colo, to make permanent a program that gives fourth-graders free access to federal public lands is again making its way through the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Every Kid Outdoors Act is an effort to make sure the popular Every Kid in a Park program is here to stay, said Tipton spokeswoman Liz Payne.

The program, established in 2015, gives fourth-grade students and their families free access to more than 2,000 federally managed parks, lands and waters across the country.

  1. Please keep this valuable program. As a retired teacher, mother and grandma, I have had the good fortune to visit our public lands all my life with my family and with my students.
