Connecting to Nature and Community Through Art

9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM

Deep learning often happens when we can turn off our thoughts and engage completely in observation. Kids and adults of all ages are invited to join eco-artist Sonya Sankaran and experiential educator Maria Loyd in nature journaling and weaving activities. Nature journaling is a perfect tool to cultivate focus and calm our nervous system, not to mention celebrate nature! In this workshop, we will not be making perfect drawings, but instead use journaling as a tool to soak up details about our environment.

We’ll also create collaborative ephemeral weavings on an outdoor yarn loom with fresh and dried plants. By engaging our hands, our senses sharpen and we learn about plants through our nervous system. At the same time, relax into conversation and cooperation with your community!

This activity is open to all ages, and can be adjusted for the needs according to the group size and age range.

No registration required.
