One of the most important challenges for this movement is to engage a new generation of “Natural Leaders” — teen-agers, college students and other young people whose personal connection to nature comes from their experiences in the wild places in their own neighborhoods, woods, fields, arroyos, mountains and oceans.
NATURAL LEADERS SUMMIT 2009:
On June 5th-7th Natural Leaders traveled to the Headlands Institute in the Bay area to give life to the Natural Leaders Network. This was a milestone event in the movement to reconnect all children with nature.
“Often we find that the people who are talking about connecting youth with nature are not so young, so the Natural Leaders Network seeks to connect all the youth who are already doing so and those who want to but don’t know where to look for a support system." -- Juan Martinez, C&NN’s Natural Leaders Network coordinator.
We are youth from all across the Nation who recognize the importance of having nature in our life.
The Children & Nature Network has launched the Natural Leaders Network to encourage young leaders to take decisive action against nature-deficit disorder. At the core of this network is the youth voice. The ideas and spirit of this network are being developed by youth in constant growth and we are moving fast!
