Nature Nuts is excited to be starting our seventh year of forest kindergarten for kids ages 2-7. We’re thankful that we have been able to continue operating throughout the pandemic with very little change to our program. The children, families and staff are all thriving with hours of outdoor play every day throughout the whole year. We found that demand increased dramatically last year and we were happy to add another class to support more children and families. While we recognize that there is still a long way to go in creating equitable access to nature-based programs, we are grateful for the diversity in our staff and the families that we serve.

At Nature Nuts, we feel like providing opportunities for children to connect with nature is a must-have, not an option. We got our start in 2004 in response to encountering hundreds of children at a rural elementary school who had virtually no connection with nature – they had never gotten their hands dirty or were afraid to explore the nearby forest. We’ve seen firsthand over and over again how children are transformed by having the freedom to explore and appreciate nature. Their confidence, happiness and curiosity know no bounds and these experiences will stay with them for their whole lives.

We proudly support the Children & Nature Network as a member because it is important for their work to continue in support of ALL children. We’ve been grateful for the bountiful resources and support that the Children & Nature Network has provided since 2006. And we share about them with every family that visits — whether they join our school or not.
