The Urgent Need for Nature During and After COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, nature has been a necessary respite for people around the world. However, many children and families lack equitable access to the benefits of nature at a time when they need it most. With African American and Latinx people in the U.S. disproportionately dying from COVID-19, the urgent need to improve equity in accessing nature during and after COVID-19 becomes even more clear.
The authors of this piece from Grantmakers in Health ask, “As we think about how to help communities emerge from this crisis, will we repeat the mistakes of the past, or will we think holistically about what truly supports health and well-being?”
